Join Hawai'i Green Growth and the Hawai'i Institute for Human Rights in exploring innovation between islands!
The imminent issues facing island communities will be explored, bringing together civil society practitioners and city policy makers to partner together. Discussing specific steps at the sub-regional level, the speakers will offer municipal models that can be transferred to other communities and cities in the Pacific, as well as scaled up for national actions to achieve the 2030 agenda.
Hawai'i and Tasmania are both island states part of larger developed economies and are at different points in their sustainability journeys. We will learn from Hawai'i's transformative tactics to the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and about bright spots from Tasmania's that are helping to shape the transition to a low carbon and sustainable future.
Through exchange and exploration, the two municipalities will share promising practices in community power and local decision making. Through a juxtaposition on the journey for justice there will be sharing of simple steps and potential scalable solutions in the Pacific.
