International development work, including research and evaluation practice, relies upon the development of strong and trusting relationships between development practitioners, researchers, local partners and communities. Research conducted in developing countries and particularly in relation to development practice raises distinct ethical, moral and political issues and dilemmas. These arise due to current and historical disparities in wealth, power, access to information, political interest, and status.
The aim of this webinar is to encourage those working in international development to incorporate a culture of ethical inquiry into their research and evaluation practice, and to give an introduction to the RDI Network’s Ethical Practice Starter Kit and the four Principles for Ethical Research and Evaluation in Development.
